Loïs had her first solo exhibit when she was 17 years old on Martha's Vineyard in the garden
of Mrs. Henry A. Ritter's home in Vineyard Haven. Some of her early Island paintings were loaned by
local collectors and enhanced the exhibit. The Trust had not been aware of the existence of some of
them. Menemsha remained one of her favorite subjects throughout her life.
